About the Role
An exciting leadership opportunity exists for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead the Allawah Aged Care unit at Yarrawonga Health.
As the NUM, you will be accountable for the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred care to residents, while providing strong clinical and operational leadership to multidisciplinary teams. You will play a key role within the senior management team, contributing to strategic, operational and quality improvement initiatives across the organisation.
This role requires a visible, supportive leader who fosters a positive culture, optimises resident quality of life, and ensures compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and organisational governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong clinical and professional leadership to nursing and care staff
- Ensure compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards, legislation and accreditation requirements
- Lead workforce management including rostering, performance development and staff wellbeing
- Manage unit budgets and resources effectively
- Oversee clinical governance, audits, risk management and quality improvement activities
- Engage collaboratively with residents, families, multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Actively participate in organisational leadership, planning and improvement forums
About You
You are an experienced aged care nurse leader with a passion for excellence in resident care and staff development.
Essential Criteria:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in residential aged care as an RN/ANUM
- Proven experience at ANUM or NUM level
- Demonstrated clinical expertise across aged care specialties including dementia care, medication management, wound care and palliative care
- Strong leadership, communication and change-management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff, resources and operational priorities
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualifications in management and/or dementia/gerontology (or working towards)
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Experience with budgeting, performance monitoring and quality systems
