About Us
The SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre is South Australia’s premier aquatic facility, delivering swimming lessons across two sites. As part of the YMCA, we are a not-for-profit organisation committed to building healthier, happier and more connected communities.
The Role
As a Swim School Coordinator, you will play a key leadership role within the Swim School, providing day-to-day operational support, team leadership, and outstanding customer service.
Reporting to the Swim School Manager and Swim School Director, you will work closely with the Team Leaders and Teachers in Charge (TICs), swim teachers and frontline teams to ensure the delivery of safe, engaging and high‑quality swimming programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily operations of the Swim School, including direct service hours
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to swim teachers and TICs
- Deliver high-quality customer service and manage customer enquiries and follow‑ups
- Assist with staff communication, shift coverage and absenteeism processes
- Maintain staff qualifications and compliance requirements
- Support training, onboarding and appraisal processes
- Assist with programming, holiday programs and specialist programs
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and customer service standards
- Actively participate as a member of the SAALC YMCA leadership team
About You
You are a collaborative and motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced aquatic environment. You are passionate about swimming education, team culture and delivering exceptional experiences for children, families and staff.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Working With Children Check and National Police Check
- Aquatic Rescue qualification
- Commitment to YMCA Safeguarding Children and Young People policies
- Experience managing Learn to Swim Program and teams
Desirable
- Austswim Assessor qualification
- Experience supervising large teams
- Knowledge of swim school levels, programs and assessments
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and booking systems
