Full Time - Finance, Retail & Café Manager

The Finance, Retail and Café Manager hold end-to-end accountabilities for all financial aspects of operations across the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre (SAALC) and the Adelaide Aquatic Centre (AAC). The role is responsible for delivering high-level financial performance, governance, asset utilisation, and business development that aligns with the expectations of the SA Government as the facility owner.

Job Description

 We are seeking a highly capable Finance, Retail & Café Manager to drive the commercial and financial performance of the business. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for maximising profitability, supporting sustainable growth and providing trusted commercial partnership to the General Manager and Senior Leadership Team.

The role oversees the finance function and broader commercial pillar, including Retail, Café, inventory, and asset management, and plays a critical role in shaping strategy, governance, and decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute annual and long-term budgets, forecasts, and commercial strategies for both venues.
  • Lead financial reporting, including monthly performance packs, dashboards, and strategic business insights.
  • Lead the Finance, Retail, and Café, teams, driving performance and development.
  • Lead profit and loss accountability for all hospitality and retail operations across both venues.
  • Set and monitor KPI targets across revenue, COGS, labour efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure seasonal planning and alignment with major events to optimise commercial performance.
  • Champion compliance with food safety, WHS, RSA, and retail operating standards.
  • Ensure the integrity of the finance process through accurate reconciliation, coding, approval workflows, and audit readiness.
  • Drive digital transformation in reporting, customer data use and automation of financial processes.
  • Provide high-quality commercial insights to support strategic planning and decision-making
  • Track KPIs and action plans, communicating outcomes cross-functionally
  • Monitor project and operational budgets, profitability and cost control initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards and internal policies
  • Maintain strong governance, controls and reporting frameworks

Requirements

  • Knowledge of fast pace multi-site or contract-based environments
  • Demonstrated experience in managing hospitality or commercial retail operations
  • Deep knowledge of financial systems, reporting software, and data tools
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on operational approach
  • Strong financial and analytical capability, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Sound understanding of risk management and governance frameworks
  • Project management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant business systems
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness
  • Results-driven, with a focus on sustainable growth and profitability
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable managing competing priorities
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Collaborative leader who builds trust and inspires high performance 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Commerce, Finance, Business, Accounting, or related discipline
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) – desirable
  • Responsible Person Badge (RSB) – desirable
  • Current National Police and Working with Children Checks
