Due to an exciting project in South Australia that WSP have been working on, we are looking for IREA Construction Surveillance Officers to join our specialist team of Bridges, Aviation and Road (BAR) experts on a fixed term basis!
Based in Adelaide, you will play an integral role in success of the concluding stages of the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project, and the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, which will complete 78km of non-stop, traffic light-free motorway between Gawler and Old Noarlunga.

Bridges, Aviation and Roads (BAR)
Bridges, Aviation and Roads (BAR) play a crucial part in shaping and connecting communities. When planning for today we anticipate the challenges of tomorrow, addressing how smart technology and evolving travel behaviours will advance connectivity.

Working collaboratively with clients, our team delivers solutions for today’s transport challenges to help future-proof our cities.
Some of the exciting projects the team have worked on, have included:
Sydney’s M12 Motorway Project West - We are designing the gateway to Western Sydney alongside two of WSP’s other significant projects in the region. The project would provide the main access from the Western Sydney International Airport at Badgerys Creek to Sydney’s motorway network and is expected to be opened to traffic before the opening of the Western Sydney International Airport in 2025.
Brisbane’s Kangaroo Point Bridge - This new active transport bridge over the Brisbane River is greatly improving walking, wheeling, and riding connections between the Brisbane Central Business District, Kangaroo Point, and the Eastern Suburbs - The project is part of the Brisbane City Council’s Bridges for Brisbane Program that is making Brisbane a walkable and rideable city.
What You’ll Do:
The IREA Construction Surveillance Officers will provide surveillance of technical, safety, environmental and customer requirements to assist the SWAPP Construction Verifier Zone Lead in the surveillance of infrastructure construction works and verifies that it meets the requirements of the T2D project Contract Scope and Functional Operation Requirements (CSCR).
A typical day for a IREA Construction Surveillance Officer working on the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project would look like (but not be limited to):
- Monitoring the construction activities, focusing on specific risks identified at the surveillance planning meeting and ensure the minimum surveillance established at this meeting is completed
- Complete and file records (including photographic) for every surveillance activity, and communicate any significant issue identified on site in a timely manner to CV’s Senior Project Engineer
- Verify that the proposed dispositions that the T2D Alliance has proposed in non-conformance reports have been satisfactorily implemented on site
- Monitoring and reporting workplace health and safety compliance and environmental impacts
- Liaison with the T2D Alliance site representatives
- Identification and resolution of Non-conformances
- Attending Hold Points and Witness Points
- Supporting the CV Construction Lead and CV Engineers
- Ensuring all management system requirements (in accordance with the SWAPP \Construction verification Management Plan) are met
- Achieving contract review and reporting timeframes to the required standards and objectives
- Building effective working relationships with the T2D Alliance contractors and sub-contractors, other agencies and stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective completion of the surveillance tasks.
What we'll love about you:
Alongside having enthusiasm and the drive to want to be part of exciting and meaningful work, you will have an extensive experience working on similar largescale projects plus possess trade or be a technically qualified construction professional with a minimum of at least a decade experience in road, tunnelling and/or infrastructure projects - specifically related to surveillance of the construction of:
- Precast Concrete structures
- Concrete structures (bridges, retaining walls etc)
- Civil works (earthworks, drainage, roadworks, pavements, asphalt, utilities etc.)
