Principal Process Engineer – Water Treatment (Desalination & Membranes) – National Role
As a Principal Process Engineer, you’ll be a key member of our national team delivering complex water treatment projects across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia. You’ll provide technical leadership in desalination and membrane treatment, guiding multidisciplinary teams and mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Locations: We welcome applications from senior technical leaders based anywhere in Australia.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the technical design of water treatment plants, with a focus on membrane technologies including RO, NF, MF, and UF.
- Provide national expertise in desalination and potable reuse applications.
- Manage and review high-quality technical documentation, including P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and specifications.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to deliver innovative and sustainable outcomes.
- Contribute to proposals, pursuits, and strategic planning.
- Stay at the forefront of water treatment innovation and regulatory trends.
- Represent WSP at industry events and technical forums.
About You
This role is strategically important to our future growth and impact. You are a collaborative leader with deep technical knowledge and a passion for innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
- Chartered/Registered Professional Engineer (CPEng, RPEQ or equivalent).
- 15+ years of experience in water treatment engineering, with a strong focus on membrane technologies and desalination.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale water treatment projects.
- Strong technical writing, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with pilot testing, commissioning, and lifecycle design.
- Familiarity with CHAIR, HAZOP, and safety in design practices.
