Due to internal movements and promotions, we have an exciting opportunity to join the University of Newcastle’s large finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract through to June 2026. As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll work closely with business units to support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting—delivering insights that inform strategic decision-making.

The Role

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Prepare budgets, forecasts, financial models, and variance analyses to support decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build effective relationships with diverse teams, providing financial advice and building financial literacy among leaders with non-financial backgrounds.
  • Business Cases and Capital Evaluation: Prepare business cases and evaluations to support effective resource management.
  • Month-End and Reporting: Conduct month-end reviews, performance reporting, and provide in-depth analysis and insights.
  • System Support and Change Management: Support non-finance users during process improvements, and system rollouts, including Tech One.

This full-time role is based at our Callaghan Campus on Awabakal and Worimi land, with hybrid work flexibility (up to 40% work-from-home).

About You

You will bring:

  • A degree in accounting, business or related field.
  • Progress towards postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant professional experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience providing strategic financial support in complex organisations.
  • A commitment to fostering a safe and respectful workplace.

Desirable:

  • CPA/CA ANZ membership or progress towards it.
  • Technology One experience.

Eligibility:
