As Research Translation Manager, you’ll lead and coordinate targeted initiatives and projects that strengthen industry partnerships, support research teams, and drive successful translation and commercialisation outcomes for clean energy and recycling.

In this job you will:

  • Lead and manage research translation projects, including planning, implementation, and engagement with project teams and industry stakeholders.
  • Design and deliver tailored support for industry-academia collaboration, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate engagement with research teams to build capability and drive commercialisation outcomes.
  • Evaluate project progress, provide strategic reporting, and contribute to ongoing program development.

This fixed term position is until end of June 2027, is full time, and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal land).

 

About Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy

The Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE) initiative is co-led by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the University of Newcastle. TRaCE aims to accelerate a pipeline of disruptive technologies out of the lab and into local manufacturing and global deployment.

The program spans the innovation lifecycle, from research and development through to de-risking, demonstration, deployment, and manufacturing, and is underpinned by critical workforce skills, cultural change, and university workplace reform.

How will you inspire us?

You will have:

  • Proven high-level project management abilities, including successfully coordinating multi-disciplined teams to deliver under a plan.
  • Experience in research development and translation in the same or similar field.
  • Strong engagement and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities whilst working across teams and institutions.
  • A passion for clean energy and recycling innovation, and a track record of delivering results with real-world impact.

 

What we offer

The remuneration for this position is from $116,596 to $136,030 + 17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

  1. Graduate or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline and extensive relevant experiences; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  2. Demonstrated project management experience and excellence in the delivery of industry-focused programs and the development of project management frameworks.
  3. Demonstrated experience in Innovation management, product development and research translation or similar R&D related commercial operations.
  4. Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of business processes, service models and industry engagement initiative development.
  5. Demonstrated high-level facilitation, negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills with the ability to manage challenging relationships, gain consensus and influence outcomes to establish effective working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the capacity to think creatively, act strategically and manage change, effectively managing stakeholders, issues and risks.
  7. Highly developed communication skills including demonstrated ability to provide expert, strategic advice and viable, evidence-based recommendations.
  8. Ability to work collaboratively and bring together people from different areas to participate in School/Division or University-wide initiatives. 
  9. Demonstrated knowledge of workplace obligations to, and experience in leading and cultivating workplace practices and behaviours that promote, support and maintain a safe, healthy, equitable, diverse and respectful workplace; including responding appropriately to adverse accidents, incidents, behaviours, issues, reports and the like.
