Our client is a multi-disciplined engineering consulting firm based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Since 2007, they has provided professional engineering solutions to the oil and gas industry, currently specializing primarily in truck and rail transloading facilities. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical & Control Designer to join our dynamic team, an established leader in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction industry. As a Senior Electrical & Control Designer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of electrical and control systems for various projects within our portfolio.


Responsibilities

  • Design Expertise: Utilize your strong design capabilities to develop comprehensive drawing packages for electrical and control systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications, codes, and standards.
  • 3D Modeling and Drafting: Proficiently create and modify 3D models and drafting using CADworx software, producing accurate representations of electrical and control components and systems.
  • AutoCAD Proficiency: Leverage your experience with AutoCAD to support design activities, including schematic drawings, layouts, and annotations, ensuring clarity and precision in documentation.
  • PLC/DCS Panel Design: Demonstrate expertise in PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and DCS (Distributed Control System) panel design, including layout, wiring diagrams, and component selection, to meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including engineers, project managers, and clients to integrate electrical and control designs seamlessly into overall project plans and deliverables.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and checks of design packages to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements, industry regulations, and company standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in electrical and control design, actively seeking opportunities to enhance skills and processes within the organization.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical and control system design within the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction industry.
  • Proficiency in CADworx for 3D modeling and drafting.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills for 2D drafting and design.
  • Demonstrated experience in PLC and DCS panel design, including layout and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work within project deadlines.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations governing electrical and control systems design.
