Job Description

The Requirements and Acceptance Specialist is responsible for the elicitation, tracking and acceptance of requirements during the new construction vessel program, designed and constructed under the NSPS NC Package Programs. The personnel will work towards delivering Objective Quality Evidences (OQEs) which demonstrate that the work has been completed in accordance with the contract and the Ship Specification for new construction vessels. The personnel will also work on Class and Regulatory requirements.


Duties and Accountabilities

  • Liaises with various partners to support the progressive acceptance process on new build vessels and future vessels to be built (design phase).
  • Work closely with Production, Planning, Engineering and other teams to with reference to their respective Objective Quality Evidences (OQEs). 
  • Support other specialists with reference to Class and Regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in deliverable review meetings with the customer (and Classification Society if required) to discuss submission of OQEs and address customer comments.
  • Ensures customer sign-off of requirements on the basis of progressive acceptance.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering preferred). 
  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • 4-5 years of experience with complex engineering projects involving diverse stakeholders or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Quality Department experience is an asset.


Skills, Knowledge, and Required Competencies

  • Knowledge of program management and project management skills and knowledge of requirements and acceptance management. 
  • Well versed with aligning functional drawings, model and build / product 
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and initiative to plan and execute the requirements and acceptance activities and schedule.
  • Customer service skills. 
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills including problem solving skills and analytical skills.
  • Close attention to details.
  • Computer literacy including a knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Technical skills and understanding of modern shipbuilding design, procurement and production techniques are desirable.  
  • Knowledge of Aras and IFS is an asset. 
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and be persistent.
  • Knowledge of Macro and BI Power BI is an asset.
