The Detail Designer II, Structural is responsible for 3D modeling and producing adequate Production Drawings to support production design at our clients Shipyard in North Vancouver. The Detail Designer II, Structural will ensure that Detail Design 3D Model and Production Drawings are generated and in accordance with our clients standards, quality, and engineering processes. This role will be responsible for 3D modeling, production design, drawing generation and implementation of lessons learned.

  

What you’ll do:

•   Delivers discipline-specific 3D Modelling and MI generation.

•   Helps with integration decisions and develops design.

•   Prepares Manufacturing Information for all Stages of Construction.

•   Collaborates with System Responsible Engineer to resolve design issues.

•   Assists with technical support to production.

•   Assists with developing and communicating plan for delivering work on time and monitors the cost and resources.

•   Supports production outputs to ensure the resulting work packages for manufacturing are in alignment with our clients standards and processes.

•   Performs additional duties as assigned.


What you’ll bring:

•   Associate Design degree, diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

•   3 - 5 years of experience in Detailed Design in Manufacturing/Heavy Industries.

•   Knowledge of marine structural design, including detailed knowledge of shipbuilding and production best practices. 

•   Knowledge of the following ship types is considered a strong asset: research vessels, fishing vessels, icebreakers, naval auxiliary vessels. 

•   Demonstrated effective communication across a variety of disciplines. 

•   Strong technical writing skills including the ability to produce and present clear detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports. 

•   Ability to work in Cadmatic Hull. 

•   Demonstrated knowledge with Rhino, NavisWorks and e-Share. 

•   Above average organizational skills including the ability to maintain organization in a changing environment, multi-task and establish priorities. 

•   Strong interpersonal skills. 

•   Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. 

•   Exercise sound judgments and make decisions consistent with the essential job functions and corporate philosophy. 

•   Advanced PC and Network proficiency required – ability to troubleshoot network licenses, version control across all MSOffice.
