Your opportunity:

A foundational engineering role focused on building quality data pipelines under guidance while developing technical skills and understanding of enterprise data platforms. This position suits early-career engineers or those transitioning into data engineering who bring strong fundamentals and eagerness to learn. 

Key Attributes & Requirements 

Foundational Skills: Working knowledge of data engineering with exposure to transformation tooling like dbt, proficient SQL capabilities, and a quantitative educational background (computer science, engineering, IT, mathematics) or equivalent practical experience. Prior experience in large, established organisations is valued. 

Growth Orientation: We seek self-starters who own their development plan, actively seek feedback through peer review, and embrace learning opportunities. The ability to execute guided work while critically thinking about approach and delivery demonstrates the initiative will be valued. 

Collaborative Contributor: Success requires embracing agile ways-of-working, partnering effectively with cross-functional stakeholders (ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Analysts, Platform Engineers), and contributing positively to team culture. Exposure to AI/ML platforms or software engineering practices is advantageous but not required. 

Problem-Solving Mindset: Candidates should demonstrate natural curiosity, motivation to tackle complex problems, and a "can-do" attitude that persists through challenges. The willingness to troubleshoot issues, document solutions, and support BAU operations shows the ownership mentality we need.

Technology Stack Overview 

Our modern data and AI platform is built on: 

• Cloud Infrastructure: AWS (primary), with multi-cloud considerations 
• Data Platform: Databricks, Redshift, dbt for transformation, AWS S3 data lake 
• Orchestration: Airflow for pipeline management 
• Programming: SQL (advanced) and Python (proficient) 
• MLOps: Feature stores, model hubs, orchestration frameworks on Databricks 
• AI Integration: Foundation models, agentic AI patterns, responsible AI practices 
• DevOps: AWS and GitHub CI/CD pipelines, source control, infrastructure as code  

Partnership Model 

Data Engineering team members will collaborate extensively across TPG's Technology function (OneTech), including: 

• Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering, and Architecture teams 
• Networks and Tech Ops teams for foundational data access 
• Data Governance for risk and compliance management 
• Data Science and Analytics Products for downstream consumption 
• Business Partnering for requirements and value realisation 

This cross-functional model requires strong communication skills, stakeholder management capability, and the ability to build trusted partnerships across organisational boundaries.
