This opportunity

The Architecture Lead has responsibility for leading the Technology Security domain in developing an Enterprise Security Architecture, which aligns with TPG Telecom’s strategic goals and addresses security risks. This will involve assisting the planning & execution activities of Technology Security program / initiatives.

You will lead a team of Solution Architects and Principal Architects working on initiatives either within or impacting the domain, including cross-domain initiatives. You will have people management responsibilities for team members and will be accountable for the quality of architecture work from the team. In your role as domain lead, you will be accountable for architecture within the domain, including solution governance and alignment with the broader technology strategy. You’ll be the senior architecture representative from the domain in interactions with relevant business and technology stakeholders.

Through your oversight of the team and the domain, you will be a key contributor towards achieving both business goals and advancing Technology Security architecture and strategy. Success will be defined according to the following metrics:

  • Engaged team members
  • Well-understood and consistent practice of architecture within the team
  • Reputation of team with primary customers
  • Clarity and quality of the domain solution architecture
  • The degree to which the quality (and clarity) of solutions minimises changes and issues during development, testing and release
  • The degree to which solutions support and improve key performance indicators around performance and availability of our applications
  • Adherence of solutions to architecture standards and policies, as well as other policies and standards (e.g. TSSR, Security, Regulatory Codes etc)
  • Definition of the near-term tribe technology strategy and roadmap

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the definition of technology security frameworks, target state architectures and blueprints.
  • Provide security architecture leadership by establishing architecture vision & support the development of technical standards that facilitate operational improvements.
  • Keep current on industry trends and emerging security technologies to evaluate and recommend those that will increase performance, reliability, cost effectiveness, infrastructure flexibility or otherwise provide value to VHA.
  • Assist in the development of security strategy plans and roadmaps based on sound enterprise architecture practices
  • Drive the development and maintenance of baseline and target state architecture blueprints for security services.
  • Provide security leadership and guidance into the technical approach, design and implementation of enterprise security capabilities.
  • Have a cross-functional understanding of the Technology architectural domains, whilst acting a subject matter expert within the security domain, and possess the ability to communicate its role and importance to other Technology domain architects.
  • Work closely with the Head of Technology Security to understand security priorities and requirements and incorporate these into the security architecture and roadmap.
  • Assist in the assessment of security product evaluations to facilitate solution delivery.
  • Drive the development of KRIs (both leading and lagging) and metrics to improve operational processes and inform strategic investments.
  • Recommends enhancements to security processes, standards and guidelines based upon a risk aligned prioritisation.
  • Interface with key business stakeholders and outsourced partners.

Key Tasks:

  • Contribute to security strategy & direction; and communicate best practice throughout the company.
  • Promote security awareness and policy advocacy by supporting various internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Maintain strong relationships with team members and organisational stakeholders.
  • Continuously updates job knowledge in the areas of emerging security standards, privacy regulations and emerging regulatory impacts.
  • Leads the creation and maintenance of the security services catalogue.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Technology Security.

Knowledge and experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in senior architecture role
  • Strong and in-depth technological understanding of modern IT ecosystems including network, systems, applications, database, cloud security architectures.
  • Comprehensive skills and experience in identifying, researching, evaluating and recommending new and emerging security technologies.
  • Ability to build business case for security frameworks, technologies and security management.
  • Understanding of various security technologies (Identity & Access, Threat detection, Data security) encompassing enterprise solutions, and the ability to apply these within a demanding environment.
  • The Enterprise Security Architect should be a generalist with experience and understanding of system administration, network design and administration, identity management, PKI, pen testing, vulnerability management, intrusion analysis and risk management.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of a predominant architecture model such as TOGAF, SABSA or Zachman and Security Management frameworks (e.g. ISO 27002, COBIT etc.) is required.
  • Ability to identify and analyse risk and clearly communicate findings to both Business and Technology leaders.
  • At least one or more of the certifications like CISSP/CISM/PCIDSS/ISO27001/SABSA/TOGAF.
  • Ability to self-study and acquire required skills to further responsibilities.
