This opportunity

This role is responsible for providing development to various Network Operational Support Systems and Network Management Systems across the Mobile and Fixed Networks business. We are open to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane for the location.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, automating, and providing support and maintenance for in-house scripts, tools, plugins, APIs, and reports.
  • Leading technology development activities within the NSTC (Network Systems and Technology Center).
  • Managing code repositories such as Git, SVN, Bitbucket, etc.
  • Implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like VSTS, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, or Jenkins.
  • Demonstrating SQL knowledge and the ability to work with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
  • Working with public cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency in various programming languages, including Ansible, Perl, and Python.
  • Understanding and supporting MANO (Management and Orchestration) systems such as Nova, Neutron, FUEL, and NSX-T.
  • Supporting and maintaining various systems and servers, including Nagios, MRTG, Cacti, eHealth, TACACS, and Syslogs.
  • Researching and testing/simulating other OSS (Operations Support Systems) and NMS open-source tools.
  • Providing guidance on pipeline architecture and management.
  • Collaborating with leadership and development teams to implement changes.
  • Translating functional requirements into robust and maintainable test scenarios and suites.
  • Assisting QA analysts and software developers in triaging and analyzing defects.
  • Setting up and configuring Unix/Linux/Windows servers for monitoring.
  • Troubleshooting various applications hosted on UNIX, Linux, and Windows platforms, utilizing OS-specific tools.
  • Supporting and maintaining DNS servers, including DNSMAN tool and generic host name servers.
  • Handling requests for new TACACS accounts, router command level access modifications, and device management.
  • Processing requests for new support tickets and queues.
  • Troubleshooting issues related to OS jumpbox logins, MRTG graphs, and Observium.
  • Collaborating effectively with other teams.

Knowledge and experience

  • A relevant Bachelor's Degree or Tertiary qualifications in IT/Telecommunications.
  • CISCO certifications will be highly regarded.
  • Python
  • Linux certification is desirable.
  • A minimum of 3 preferable 5 years of experience in IT and Telco, with a focus on administering and supporting network management and related systems.
  • Strong skills in routing and switch networking.
  • Preferably, a background in Linux/UNIX.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective technical analysis and troubleshooting capabilities.
