This opportunity

This role will report into the Head of Tax and will be focused on management of tax requirements for ongoing projects being undertaken by TPG.

Responsibilities

  • Manage tax aspects of strategic projects such as acquisitions and corporate restructurings, document tax positions and communicate tax issues and management of those issues with key stakeholders.
  • Working with external advisors and other divisions of the TPG on delivering project outcomes; • Reviewing and advising on legal agreements as required and providing tax technical advice and practical solutions to the business.
  • Reviewing, documenting and assisting in implementation of new tax legislation and provisions as it arises, including Pillar Two, public transparency, and royalty withholding tax.
  • Assisting in transfer pricing matters and maintenance of documentation.
  • Assist in ensuring the tax governance controls are effectively designed and operating including maintaining and updating risk management documentation recommended by the ATO guideline including process documentation, process walk throughs and relevant risk registers, ongoing review of the Group tax control framework to identify potential gaps and areas in need of improvement and collaborating with internal functional teams and external advisors in internal review/audit.
  • Assist with managing relationships with external regulatory authorities, including assisting on ATO Top 100 review programs where required.
  • Monitoring and leading communications with respect to changing tax laws and its impact for the Group including raising tax awareness with key stakeholders to mitigate risk/capture new opportunities and ensure a strategic approach to meeting tax law requirements.
  • Assist with the development of junior staff. 

Knowledge and experience

  • A university degree and an internationally recognised accounting or legal qualification • Prior experience in a reputable Chartered Accounting firm.
  • Prior experience in an ASX listed company preferred.
  • Prior experience with ATO Top 100 or Top 1000 assurance reviews
  • Ability to develop good working relationships the ATO and other external bodies.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve results yet still able to maintain communication.
  • Ability to provide practical solutions to complex business problems.
  • Ability to manage deadlines.
  • Ability to work with whole of business and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence change.
  • Strong technical tax knowledge.
  • Flexible, adaptable and prepared to learn.
  • Advanced Excel skills, proficient at using Word and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced working knowledge of policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting area of responsibility.
