This opportunity

This position works within a team of AWS DevOps Cloud engineers responsible for the TPG AWS Public Cloud Platform. The DevOps team manages the AWS platform and offer services which enable the broader TPG domain teams to deliver business and technical capability in line with the TPG commercial and technology roadmap.

The AWS DevOps Cloud Engineers are responsible for the AWS environment, including appropriate assessment and implementation of a wide range of AWS services and tools to support the TPG AWS Platform and the deployment pipelines for teams managing both internal and external applications. You will have exposure to best-practice Cloud technologies to build and support secure, highly available, and cost-efficient applications and services.

In addition to the Cloud native teams, you will have strong engagement with broader TPG Telecom Technology teams including IT, Networks, and business stakeholders. 

Responsibilities

  • Supporting and enhancing our AWS Platform, service offerings and automation framework
  • Enhancing, maintaining and updating TPG’s CI CD framework
  • Managing and enhancing the core infrastructure and AWS networking
  • Continuously create, enhance and maintain tooling for automation
  • Identify and promote areas of improvement in processes and tooling
  • Design and deliver services and systems for internal usage including the delivery of both infrastructure as code and service development
  • Observe the human resource policies of the Company.

Knowledge and experience

  • Excellent Software Engineering skills
  • Solid development experience using Python Java, Javascript, C#, C++ (Python and Java are preferred)
  • Problem solving mindset
  • AWS / DevOps experience
  • Experience with Infrastructure-As-Code tools to automate deployments in AWS, preferably CloudFormation and CDK
  • Creating CI/CD pipelines and use of tools such as Code Build, Code Deploy, Code Pipeline, Puppet, Ansible, Packer etc.
  • Self-directed / autonomous
  • Willing and keen to learn new technologies and skills
  • Worked in an agile environment
  • Good communicator
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative environment
  • Worked with Splunk or similar log analyser

The following skills will give a candidate bonus points:

  • Knowledge on Direct Connect, Transit Gateway and Network Firewalls configuration
  • Be familiar with ITSM/SRM/CMDB tools like Jira Service Management or BMC Helix
  • Worked in a Containerised and/or Serverless environment
  • AWS Certification
  • Scripting in a linux environment
  • Created and/or maintained automation tools
  • Cloud Security experience
  • Building highly available, scalable and resilient platforms
  • Linux administration experience
