This opportunity

Working directly for the Head of Consumer FBP and with key stakeholders for the role - the GM of Sales and Distribution, the role’s responsibility is to understand, and provide commercial guidance on the commission, distribution channel and the Retail division opex & dealer commission lines.

The role is responsible for business casing & decision support, performance reporting and budgeting & forecasting in this area.

Responsibilities

  • Analysing the effectiveness of existing commission schemes across our whole range of different points of distribution both internal and external, and business casing and modelling new commission scheme proposals for both existing and new channels as well as existing and new products to reward value and service rather than volume.
  • Ensuring all types of commission transaction - upfront, one-off, claw backs, regular ongoing payments have trends that are understood and in line with budget. Working with the Financial Control team responsible for paying commissions and their system (Performio) in order to generate regular reporting to ensure adverse trends are recognised early and suggested changes are implemented.
  • Understanding and explaining the technical implications of accounting changes on how we recognise commissions over time (eg. IFRS 15)
  • Working with the sales team to understand the distribution of points of presence for our own stores, partner stores and business channels in order to ensure the spread of those stores and their locations are best placed, and we are equally benefiting from the arrangement.
  • Approving commission payments each month/quarter are accurate and in line with performance for Vodafone.
  • Approving special incentives in order to push focus on to relevant product lines or areas of business that we are looking to highlight.
  • Understanding and working with the senior finance manager of profitability and insights to ensure sales quality is regularly tracked and resulting actions are taken where improvement is required. Reporting back the results of sales quality, the trends, and whether new controls or commission changes need to be put in place to make further improvements.
  • Ensuring optimum workforce planning for our retail stores.
  • Business casing & monitoring of capex plans on stores
  • Preparing the month end reporting on these areas and modelling the annual budget.

  • Ensure must you and your team are familiar with policies and procedures, as well as completing any associated training, as communicated or made available on the intranet and our learning systems.

Knowledge and experience

  • Able to deliver high quality and accurate insightful outputs linking to an understanding of how the business could action those outputs.
  • Great stakeholder management and communication capability, able to influence and steer actions and decision making at GM level. Can negotiate and resolve competing priorities.
  • High level numeracy, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong Commercial acumen to assess situations for risks and opportunities and providing alternative options as required.
  • 5+ years finance experience
  • CPA/CIMA/CA or equivalent
  • Aptitude and drive for seeking continuous process improvement and innovation.
  • Integrity / values ambassador
  • Strong Team Focus
  • Passion for knowledge and a flexible attitude to focus on the relevant day to day challenges
