Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Linux Systems Engineer with around 3 years of hands-on experience to support, maintain, and enhance our Linux-based infrastructure. This role is well-suited to someone with a strong Linux background who has basic exposure to Windows environments, particularly Active Directory, and is looking to continue developing their enterprise systems skills.
You will work closely with infrastructure, network, and applications teams to ensure system reliability, security, and performance across production and non-production environments.
You'll Make an Impact By:
- Administer, support, and maintain Linux servers (physical and virtual)
- Perform system monitoring, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls on Linux systems
- Provide basic support for Windows Server and Active Directory, including:
- User and group management
- Password resets and access issues
- Understanding of Group Policy fundamentals
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
- Assist with server builds, upgrades, and system migrations
- Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash or similar)
- Maintain system documentation and operational procedures
- Participate in incident resolution and after-hours support as required
- Follow security best practices and contribute to system hardening initiatives
What You’ll Bring:
- Approximately 3 years’ experience in a Linux systems engineering or administration role
- Strong experience with Linux distributions such as:
- Red Hat / CentOS / Oracle Linux
- Solid command-line skills and understanding of Linux system internals
- Experience with:
- User and permission management
- System services (systemd)
- Logs and system monitoring
- Basic Windows Server and Active Directory knowledge
- Scripting experience (Bash; Python desirable)
- Familiarity with virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Exposure to configuration management or automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Salt)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Basic knowledge of containers (Docker) or Kubernetes (OCP)
- ITIL awareness or experience working in structured IT environments
