Quality and Risk Manager – 1800RESPECT

Telstra Health is proud to work collaboratively with the Australian Government and specialist partners in preparation for the delivery of 1800RESPECT from 1 July 2022, as the national front door for people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) and workplace sexual harassment (WSH).

Vision: to achieve a significant reduction across the Australian community in the prevalence and impacts of domestic, family and sexual violence, including workplace sexual harassment - by improving first response processes, national sector integration, service reach and responsiveness to diverse groups; by strengthening community engagement; and by continuous enhancement of staff skills and technology.

Mission: to deliver a free, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week national service that provides information, counselling support and referrals to people experiencing, or at risk of, domestic, family and sexual violence, including workplace sexual harassment.

Purpose: to provide an accessible, high quality, clinically-informed and evidence-based service that meets the diverse needs and complex considerations of individuals seeking support.

 

About the role

The Quality and Risk Manager ensures the delivery of a high quality and safe service through identification, ownership and mitigation of risks related to the program. The Manager provides leadership, oversight, supervision and support to frontline staff to ensure evidence based best practice in implementation of the Clinical Governance Framework.

 

Help us achieve a sustained reduction across the Australian community in the prevalence and impacts of Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence (DFSV) through:

Service Delivery

  • Effective support and collaboration to Clinical Director and Leadership teams which contributes to the overall quality of service delivery.
  • Provide reports for service quality that are comprehensive, accurate and timely.
  • Contribution to strategic plans and activities.
  • Appropriate training measures are implemented and training is conducted in collaboration with partners, Management and leadership teams as required.

Quality & Safety

  • Provide oversight and support to the Clinical Leads and Team Leaders to ensure all quality and safety activities are undertaken and a culture of quality and safety is driven across the program.
  • Establish a risk management framework and profile for the program
  • Develop and champion a positive risk mitigation and health and safety culture.
  • Apply an approach of continuous improvement to assist the organisation to achieve positive outcomes across all quality, risk and clinical compliance activities.
  • Ensure all work practices are ethical and comply with regulatory bodies and codes of conduct
  • Chair Incident Management Committee
  • Oversee Incident management process

Stakeholder Engagement

  • The manager will be expected to regularly collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams in the management of quality, risk, and in pursuit of continuous improvement. 
  • Work closely with the Telstra Health Risk officer

People Leadership

  • Establish a clear understanding of the various staff roles and overall team outcomes required
  • Contribution in supporting leadership/management teams in the facilitation of staff meetings and learning and development days.

Working Arrangements

  • Willing to undertake further training and development.
  • Willing to travel intra and interstate at times to attend meetings and other activities.
  • Upholds and models the values and behaviours of Telstra Health


About you

  • Professional and well regarded team member externally and demonstrates a commitment to attending meetings/conferences/committees as directed by the Clinical Director.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in areas related to leading quality and service improvement programs. 
  • Mid-level management experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant Practice Standards
  • Experience in audit/quality assurance processes and hands-on experience in conducting quality audits,
  • Experience in identifying, monitoring and reporting risks and incidents including those related to area of higher risk and application of best practices.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for training and process improvements
  • Experience in incident management

Additional requirements: 

  • University degree in a health discipline, human services, risk / incident management, or a combination of education and experience in Risk and Quality that would be considered equivalent.
  • Registered Nurse, or registered Psychologist with AHPRA
