About the role

This role is pivotal in providing technical expertise in the operation, maintenance, diagnostics, and calibration of specialised hydrometric instrumentation. The role supports effective asset lifecycle management and enables field teams to successfully deliver project outcomes. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and testing returned field instrumentation to determine suitability for continued deployment, facilitating scheduled field trials, and supporting research and development (R&D) of new instruments in alignment with SCADA Solutions requirements. The role also involves mentoring and coaching hydrometric team members in the effective use of specialised instrumentation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Field Operations & Safety

  • Undertake confined space entries within the wastewater network for instrument installation, operation, maintenance, calibration, and research & development activities, ensuring full compliance with safety legislation, work instructions, and standards.
  • Actively contribute to and provide inputs at Toolbox Talks, supporting safe work practices and effective resource scheduling.

Instrumentation, Testing & Calibration

  • Install, test, diagnose, service, and maintain specialised flow measurement and monitoring equipment in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Complete testing, fault identification, calibration, and validation of instruments, including diagnosing returned field equipment to enable field teams to meet operational objectives.
  • Maintain and update the Hydstra Instrumentation database and associated records as required.

Data, Reporting & Analysis

  • Undertake data processing, validation, interpretation, and analysis of recorded instrumentation data.

Technical Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide technical support and advice to internal stakeholders and field teams, including liaison with instrument vendors.

Who are we looking for?

  • Diploma level qualification in Technology, Instrumentation, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Science, Hydrography or other deemed relevant
  • A Certificate III or IV in Instrumentation and Control
