  • Join our Environmental Operations team and contribute to the Environmental Health of our city!
  • Role is based from Potts Hill with options for hybrid working
  • EA Level 13A ($140,108.04 base salary plus superannuation)  

About the Role:

The main focus of this role is to ensure operational and maintenance activities are delivered within the framework of Sydney Water’s Environmental Management System. You will do this by:

  • Contributing to environmental best practice across Sydney Water by guiding approval pathways, securing licences and permits, and ensuring compliance with key legislation.
  • Providing real-time environmental advice to support in-field response to pollution incidents, including weekend rostering.
  • Deliver high‑quality environmental advice that supports operations and customer teams to meet regulatory standards and EMS requirements.
  • Lead auditing, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen Sydney Water’s Environmental Management System and drive better environmental outcomes.
  • Build organisational capability by sharing expertise, mentoring graduates and boosting awareness of environmental planning across operational teams.
  • Manage tasks with precision—meeting deadlines, upholding procedures, and staying ahead of evolving environmental laws and standards.

About You:

We are looking for someone that is adaptive to working in a fast-paced operational environment and can confidently work across a variety of multi-discipline teams. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science/environmental management (or other relevant discipline).
  • Approximately 3 years relevant industry experience in environmental management for infrastructure assets.
  • Ability to identify, develop strategies for and manage environmental issues associated with the planning, delivery and/ or operation of both large and small-scale civil engineering projects.
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management System qualifications desirable.
  • Lead auditor qualifications desirable.
  • Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) qualifications desirable.
