About the role

The SCADA Project Officer is responsible for preparing project briefs, business cases, scopes of work, and budget estimates for SCADA projects. It manages the end‑to‑end delivery of SCADA projects and associated services while ensuring the quality and financial performance of external partners. The position also requires building and maintaining effective working relationships across the organisation to support collaborative and successful delivery of the SCADA Control System work stream.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivery of complex SCADA projects from initiation through to approval, funding, and implementation.
  • Prepare project briefs, business cases, scopes of work, and budget estimates for SCADA programs.
  • Coordinate project activities with internal teams, external partners, and delivery consortia to ensure seamless execution.
  • Work independently and adapt to shifting priorities within a hybrid work environment.
  • Monitor and track the quality and financial performance of external SCADA service providers.
  • Process monthly SCADA progress claims and ensure accuracy of invoicing.
  • Prepare approval documentation, including single‑source justification memos and compensation event memos.

Who are we looking for?

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or project management, or 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with strong knowledge of SCADA systems in the Water and Wastewater sector.
  • Familiarity with Sydney Water’s SCADA standards, technical specifications, procurement and contract procedures, and quality control/audit‑trail practices.
  • Demonstrated experience managing diverse SCADA projects, conducting site investigations, and preparing Business Cases.
  • Proficient in using corporate business information systems (including SAP BxP) and office applications to analyse, report and present data.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and operate autonomously with minimal supervision.
