About The Role
As Environmental Liaison Officer, you will build and maintain a strong, collaborative relationship with the environmental regulator, the Environment Protection Authority (EPA). This relationship supports Sydney Water in meeting its environmental regulatory responsibilities and complying with all legislative requirements under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.
The role acts as the first point of contact between Sydney Water and the EPA for pollution incidents investigating and interpreting complex issues and technical information and translating them into clear, concise reports and updates that discharge our regulatory obligations.
Working within a supportive team, the role will involve:
- Providing high quality updates and written reports (R2) for material harm incidents to our regulators in a timely manner.
- Responding to enquiries from the EPA and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Considering the perspective of our regulators and support and advocate for improvements to Sydney Water processes.
- Frequently using your problem solving, time management, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
About You:
In addition to a degree (or equivalent experience) in an Engineering, Science or a related discipline, we are looking for a team member who cares about public health and the environment as much as we do! You will have outstanding communication skills and highly developed organisational abilities.
