About the role
This role will work on our Optimising Digital Infrastructure (ODI) Program which is consolidating and simplifying Sydney Water’s Data Centres to two new Private Data Centres, ensuring our technology services are in safe, reliable Tier 3+ Data Centre facilities.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible to lead the private cloud stream. This stream is responsible for:
- Delivery of private cloud infrastructure at nominated highly secure Data Centres.
- Manage selected vendor to provide private cloud hosting services including PROTECTED class services.
- Manage selected vendor to provide Co-location Services.
- Manage our selected vendor to design, build and maintain the hosting infrastructure for the Private Data centre.
In this role, you will:
- Manage project work applying Sydney Water’s delivery frameworks, including Prince2, the Digital Delivery Platform (DDP), and supporting business processes
- Build and manage high-performing virtual teams of 30+ professionals across multiple projects.
- Ensure clarity of roles for all team members – from SMEs to vendors and project boards.
- Drive delivery of quality, fit-for-purpose solutions aligned to corporate standards.
- Oversee business case preparation, approvals, and financial management (budgets & forecasting).
- Integrate projects into the broader Digital portfolio, ensuring alignment to benefits, scope, schedule, and budget.
- Champion Sydney Water’s cultural values (Blue Bus & Signature Behaviours).
Experience and Qualifications:
- A degree in technology or related sphere.
- 10+ years’ experience successfully project managing technology projects; preferably a background in technology delivery
- Additional training and qualification in project management (Prince2 Certification).
- Proven experience managing large programs and multiple projects in parallel.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Expertise in project governance, financials, and resource management.
- Ability to build collaborative, high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Australian Government Baseline security clearance or above is highly desirable
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of submitting your application to be considered for this role.

- Flexibility to travel across Sydney Water sites as required.
