Water Quality Improvement Manager

Manage drinking water quality performance & reporting and drive continuous improvements of water quality outcomes for over 5 million customers.

About the role:

As the Water Quality Improvement Manager, you'll be advocating for drinking water quality and providing technical expertise across the organisation, working collaboratively to improve stakeholder practices and procedures and drive new ways of working that impact drinking water quality.

What you will be doing:

Leadership - Lead and motivate a team of Water Quality Scientists and Analysts to drive improvements in productivity, efficiency, reporting and water quality outcomes.

  • Implement strategies, monitor performance, and improve processes.
  • Provide leadership support to manage water quality incidents, investigations, projects and response.

Continuous Improvement - Establish new and better ways of reporting water quality performance, actions and improvements across the business.

  • Manage first-line water quality assurance activities, including IPART, internal governance, audits and quality certification requirements.
  • Ensure water quality communications both internally and customer facing is accurate, effective and concise.
  • Explore new technology opportunities, guiding selection and introduction to the business to delivery long term benefits.

Stakeholder engagement and collaboration -

  • Work with external stakeholders including NSW Health and WaterNSW to drive the best water quality outcomes.
  •  Build strategic relationships with external utility technical teams and industry bodies to facilitate information exchange for best practices.
  •  Facilitate water quality risk assessments and provide technical specialist water quality advice to internal and external stakeholders.

Your Experience and Qualifications:

In addition to relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Science we are looking for:

  • 10 years plus experience in water operations / water quality
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement and in water quality management systems
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder and team management skills and experience
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and drive new ideas and ways of working
  • Demonstrated skills in technical report writing & review and data analysis
  • Demonstrated technical capabilities that would enable water quality related diagnosis/ root cause analysis & risk assessment
  • Detailed knowledge of water industry standards and guidelines.
