About the role:
This role is pivotal in advancing our automation program to enhance service outcomes, quality, cost, risk enabling efficiencies, and risk management across Greater Sydney's drinking water systems.
In this position, you'll lead a cross business teams , you will manage and mentor a team of Engineers, Analysts, and Scientists driving the development and implementation of cutting-edge optimisation tools, system automation, and technology trials across the drinking water system that consist of 9 water filtration plants , 13 delivery systems (with 248 reservoirs, 50 re-chlorination facilities and more than 23,000kms watermains), and source raw water from 11 Dams. Your leadership will ensure the successful integration of advanced technologies to consistently improve water systems and deliver exceptional customer outcomes for over 5 million people in the city.
What you will be doing:
· Lead and manage a team to drive advanced automation programs and ensure outstanding customer experience.
· Develop and integrate programs of work, business cases, and budgets for successful automation across the enterprise.
· Engage industry and enterprise leaders to set plans and targets, fostering strong relationships and best practices.
· Provide technical leadership and support to operational teams, ensuring consistent delivery of quality advice and support.
· Drive innovation and efficiency by introducing new technologies and processes to improve performance outcomes.
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, while fostering a high-performing team culture.
Your Experience and Qualifications:
In addition to a degree in Information Technology (IT), Engineering or Science, we are ideally looking for further experience in automation and or computer programming. Also you will have:
- At least 10 years’ experience in Water, Process or Automation related industry
- Experience in program management and leading and building enterprise teams
- Experience and knowledge of the science and technology and automation sectors and commercial acumen when engaging external providers
- Detailed knowledge of relevant design standards, specifications, operations and product guidelines for drinking water
- Demonstrated project development and management, stakeholder communication and business planning skills
- Capability and commitment to improvement of customer and safety culture and efficiency outcomes.
