About the role

As the Safety Integration Specialist, you will be responsible for developing safety risk systems and processes, leading the update of safety risk documentation, developing safety training material and designing safety initiatives to reduce risk exposures based on data analysis.

This role will engage numerous key stakeholders from Sydney Water and Contractors to ensure that safety is implemented and integrated with business systems and processes, making it easier to work safely.

The role will develop the safety legislative framework to ensure Sydney Water meets its legal obligations, keeps up to date with changes in legislative requirements and implement legislative changes and embed into relevant business practices as required.

This role will also design and establish reports and Key Performance Indicators and ensure processes are in place to verify implementation, legal obligations and Sydney Water requirements are being met.

About You

Essential Requirements               

You have demonstrated experience in Safety Systems role or similar with demonstrated experience in developing and successfully implementing a Safety Management System

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in safety, risk or relevant discipline  
  • 5+ years in Safety Systems role or similar, demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and successfully integrating a Safety Management System and/or Safety Risk Management System in a large, highly operational industry
  • Lead auditor qualification in safety and recognised safety investigations training (such as ICAM)
  • Experience in working at various levels of an organisation including operational and Enterprise/Corporate level
  • Working knowledge of the WHS Act, WHS Regulations and associated Codes of Practice and Australian Standards
  • Ability to translate ideas and strategies into detailed approaches and plans  
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and foster networking between various areas and departments
  • Adaptability and openness to change and diversity
