Our Award-Winning Grad Program
If your career is just beginning, Sydney Water can give you a great head start. Through our graduate program, you have an opportunity to play a key role in Sydneysiders’ continuing enjoyment of this great city and iconic outdoor way of life.
You will set and achieve real goals and be part of a committed and highly skilled team who’ll appreciate what you bring to the table - we want your perspective and ideas! You will also undertake embedded Learning and Development that will fast track your technical and leadership skills.
We are welcoming applications from students who completed their studies in 2024 or will be completing in 2025 in Environmental Science.
How does our Grad program work? You will undertake 3 x 9-month rotations related to your degree discipline and will be able to apply for a fulltime role after 12 months on the program.
The locations are varied depending on the role. Our area of operations stretches across Greater Sydney, The Illawarra and The Blue Mountains. Some of our locations are not easily accessible by public transport and will require you to have your own transport.
About you?
- You’re an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at time of application
- Have a solid academic transcript and provide it with your application
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Programs
- Are curious, innovative and ambitious and open to learning new experiences

The Graduate Program Application Process:
- Situational Job Task: If you are invited to continue after applying, you’ll be invited to complete a situational job task within a week of the application closing date. This is designed to assess your skills and approach to relevant scenarios you may encounter in the role.
- Video interview and psychometric testing: If you make it through the job task, you’ll record some answers to a few straightforward questions. to help us get a sense of your communication style and what excites you about Sydney Water.
- Assessment Centre and panel interview: Next, you’ll have a face-to-face interview with a panel consisting of your prospective team. You’ll also participate in a group activity to assess your cognitive ability.
- Offer: If you’re selected, we’ll discuss all the specifics, including your salary, start date, and our background check procedure and get you excited about joining aboard!
