About the role

As Laboratory Operations Officer you shall be responsible for the maintenance of Sydney Water’s World Class Laboratories and associated buildings. You will be responsible for maintaining the operations in all conditions to meet product requirements that support our customer, and our safety and efficiency outcomes.

In your new role you shall deliver the Procurement, Warehousing, Licence Compliance, Customer Engagement, Hazardous waste management, Security liaison, Fleet Resourcing and Facilities Maintenance for the business. You shall be responsible for meeting Sydney Water safety and leadership expectations in your day-to-day duties in this role.

In this role you shall perform diagnosis and resolution for process and asset issues, communicate directly between our Laboratories and Field Sampling and Testing teams, execute on site process and asset checks, as well as perform maintenance tasks.

 About you

You have relevant experience working within a Laboratory environment, and have exposure to quality, technical, environmental and safety management systems & processes within a complex working environment. You bring with you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business/ engineering / science, or mechanical / electrical / instrumentation trade qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Sound computer skills particularly SAP systems, Quality systems, Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and use customised software packages
  • Proven capabilities that would enable process and asset related diagnosis and maintenance in a laboratory environment
  • Demonstrated capability and commitment to improvement of customer and safety culture and efficiency outcomes
  • Exposure to safety, environment and quality management systems.
  • Good people skills and experience in coordinating internal and external service providers to perform maintenance and project works.
  • Ability to solve asset and process issues within capability
  • Valid driver's licence is essential. Forklift Licence is also required (or ability to obtain within 3 months of appointment).
