About the role

The purpose of the position is to provide project electrical cost estimation services for all stages of Infrastructure Delivery and System Planning & Land Acquisition projects, building and maintaining competitive pricing schedule databases, and ensuring that WHS, Community and environmental issues are integrated into the development of cost plans.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate first‑principles electrical cost estimates using market data, pricing benchmarks, historical project information and industry‑standard estimating tools.
  • Review and analyse contractor pricing, tenders and cost proposals to identify gaps, risks, anomalies and alignment with project scope and expectations.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date electrical pricing schedules, databases and estimate documentation in digital collaboration platforms.
  • Prepare clear cost plans, budget estimates, written commentary and reports to support project approvals, decision making and value assessments.
  • Validate and peer‑review estimates, assess contingencies, contribute to continuous improvement, and ensure WHS, environmental and community considerations are embedded in estimating practices.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Solid electrical background with an Electrical Trades Licence (desired) and 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering and/or construction environments.
  • Proven experience as an electrical estimator with strong capability in accurately pricing electrical works and understanding construction and operational project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of safety, quality and industry procedures, ideally within water services, with familiarity with Sydney Water and NEC4 contracts (desired).
  • Excellent communication, customer focus and interpersonal skills, with strength in problem‑solving and organisation.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and develop team members (desired), contributing to a collaborative and high‑performing estimating function.
