Join Sydney Water as a Human Centred Designer and help shape the future of customer and staff experiences. You’ll support human-centred design initiatives, using your expertise to deliver innovative solutions that meet user needs across all touchpoints. This is a hybrid role within our Customer and Stakeholder Engagement group, focused on driving positive change and supporting evidence-based decision making. 

About the Role

  • Support the delivery of customer experience initiatives on complex, strategic projects using human-centred design methodologies.  
  • Support senior service designers on projects and works with UX/UI designers, business specialists, and stakeholders to ensure solutions are impactful and measurable. 
  • Build a deep understanding of customer and business needs and design end-to-end customer journeys and experiences.  
  • Work in cross-functional teams, co-facilitate collaborative design workshops, and support discovery activities such as ethnographic research and contextual inquiry.  
  • Contribute to the development of service design artefacts, including journey maps, blueprints, and prototypes.  
  • Communicate complex issues through effective storytelling, making insights accessible and actionable for diverse audiences.  

About you

  • 2+ years’ experience in customer experience design or service design. 
  • Demonstrated experience in a medium or large organisation and is comfortable navigating complexity.  
  • Experience working across the end-to-end human-centred design process, from discovery through to design and delivery.  
  • Ability to translate complex issues into compelling stories and clear solutions.  
  • Ability to work with product & service data to inform design decisions. 
  • Self-starter, proactive, collaborative, and eager to learn.  
  • Holds tertiary qualifications in Human-Centred Design or equivalent industry experience.
