About the role

The Strategic Analytics team within the Customer, Strategy and Insights business undertakes analytics and insights projects, discovery work and other initiatives to improve Customer Experience and Strategic outcomes at Sydney Water.

The purpose of this role is to investigate sources of data, interpret this data and deliver analysis outcomes to support the business. A strong level of data literacy is required. This role create/design analytic models and solutions and support more senior team members with more complex solution design, with a focus on geospatial analysis. The role will also assist in the creation of guidance to inform business processes and outcomes. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to;

Accountabilities & Deliverables

  • Develop and apply analytical methods to datasets to meet the needs of the business. This will include geospatial analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of priority forecasts (water and non-water).
  • Perform and contribute to analysis to better understand our customers and their water consumption, in a spatial context.
  • Assist in the development and application of new analytical techniques and approaches that can enhance the value of information derived from multiple data sources.
  • Communicate the outcomes from analyses that ensures easy uptake by non-specialists in other areas of the business
  • Manage analysis tasks to meet business needs.
  • Maintain an expert level of knowledge in the field through technical scanning, networks and professional development.
  • Work collaboratively within Customer and Strategic Insights and across the broader business to provide data and analytics support. 

 About you

Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (economics, engineering, statistics, mathematics or science). IT or business qualifications also well regarded.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • High level proficiency in the use of geospatial packages and a high level skills in analytical software.
  • Demonstrated statistical analysis skills and geospatial analysis skills.
  • Ability to develop and nurture business relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing business and information analysis services/skills to support business initiatives
  • Strong problem solving and lateral / critical thinking skills 
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills - with experience in effective business relationship building with internal and external stakeholders 
  • The ability to plan and organise effectively to ensure the timely completion of tasks and management of conflicting priorities
