What will you be doing?

The Principal Data & Analytics is responsible for leading and managing the implementation data and analytics new solutions, software, and technologies within Sydney Water. They work closely with project managers, IT teams, and stakeholders to ensure successful implementation, user adoption, and ongoing support. The Implementation & Transformation Lead is also responsible for driving process improvement initiatives and business transformation based on data insights using Six Sigma methodologies.

Your role will involve:

  • Plan, lead and manage the implementation of new data & analytics implementation, and technologies, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Size of the initiative/implementation could be anything between $500,000 - $5 million.
  • Work closely with project managers and IT teams to identify requirements and create implementation plans that align with business objectives.
  • Lead and manage implementation staffs, teams, including internal and external resources, to ensure project success.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify risks, issues, and dependencies that may impact implementation success and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate post-implementation outcomes, identifying opportunities for improvement and driving continuous improvement efforts using Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Conduct process improvement projects using Six Sigma methodologies to identify and eliminate process waste, reduce variability, and improve process efficiency and effectiveness.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated candidates who have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in project management, implementation, or related IT fields.
  • Project Management certification
  • Experience in Azure Services, Azure data factory, Azure databricks, Azure devops, Power BI / Powewr Platform, Medallion architecture, Lambda architecture, Python, SQL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.
  • Experience working in Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles and project management tools such as Jira, Asana, and Trello.
  • Six Sigma certification (e.g. Green Belt, Black Belt) and experience applying Six Sigma methodologies to process improvement initiatives in data & analytics.
