The City Growth and Development team is seeking Growth Intelligence Leads in the Growth Planning and Commercial Frameworks team.

We’re offering multiple perm and fixed term opportunities.

The role is positioned to lead delivery of Sydney Water’s Growth Intelligence operations by providing detailed growth forecasts, analysis and strategic advice to inform both the Sydney Water planning and capital delivery programmes and to facilitate early engagement and collaboration with NSW Planning bodies.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Sydney Waters spatial growth data bases (MapInfo knowledge preferred).
  • Prepares reports on changes to growth, growth timing and proposed land use, to support Sydney Water’s service planning processes and capital investment.
  • Develops networks with NSW Planning agencies to improve data sharing via analytical assessment, and use of spatial systems including the NSW Planning Portal.
  • Leads SW responses to planning proposals, DAs, SSDAs, LEPs, DCPs, infrastructure plans, land-use plans that drive growth and may affect services to our customers.
  • Undertake detailed analysis to produce growth forecasts and market intelligence for SW planning and investment decisions by using and updating;

o External and internal growth intelligence data systems, and

o Detailed information on land use rezoning, developer plans and development market conditions

  • Prepare geographical overlays of expected growth to provide a common platform for planning decisions.
  • Prepare customer facing maps and geographic overlays of Sydney Water’s infrastructure plans.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. urban planning, social sciences, economics, social science, business, geography, or other relevant fields) or experience deemed relevant.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in urban planning, water services planning, development servicing or other relevant industry experience
  • Extensive knowledge of growth intelligence, urban planning, and development servicing 
  • Advanced capability to use spatial GIS systems
  • Demonstrated experience in effective communication, including the preparation of graphical presentations using databases, statistical analysis and other tools.
  • Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver business outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships and interfaces involving internal and external parties
