About Role

Requirement for an experienced Server Engineer to join the Platform operations working within a team focused on positive culture and practices to deliver efficient and reliable server operations. The primary focus of the role will be assisting in the management of Microsoft Windows environments as well as providing guidance in the efficient management of the server environment in a medium to multi-domain large enterprise environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deliver and securely operate infrastructure services on a day-to-day basis to ensure effective and efficient technology delivery, using service frameworks, architectures and solutions enabling Sydney Water’s digital resilience.
  • General Windows Server Operating System Administration and Support for on-prem and cloud-based systems.
  • Assist with Application Whitelisting and malware protection.
  • Own and Maintain the Windows Server Monthly Patching Process.
  • Dell Hardware health Maintenance and Support
  • Troubleshoot and remediate Client Communication issues.
  • Package and Deploy additional Software\Agents to Servers.
  • Maintain Compliance Baselines and remediation scripts.
  • Utilise ITIL Best Practices to manage the Server platform environment.
  • (Create and manage Changes, Incidents, and Requests)
  • Maintain existing Windows Server Operating System Deployment Task Sequences.
  • Remediate Server Vulnerabilities - Update BIOS, Firmware, Drivers and 3rd Party Software

 About you

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Server Engineer role in medium to large enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise class Windows server infrastructure.
  • Desirable: Experience with the management of Dell Server Hardware
  • Desirable: Experience with the management of VMWare\Hyper-V hypervisor platforms.
  • Desirable: Experience with ASD/ACSC security controls in a Server environment. 
  • Desirable: Experience Application Whitelisting and malware protection using Carbon Black.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server operating systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of patch management, client installation and remediation, operating system deployment, hierarchy upgrades (N-1), SQL Server reporting.
  • Experience with Application Whitelisting and malware protection.
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud hosting platforms.
  • Experience supporting Dell Server Hardware.
  • Experience working in a secure multi-domain environment.
  • Previous experience supporting Hyper-V and VMWare VMs in a medium to large environment.
  • Hypervisor administration experience: Hyper-V and VMWare.
  • Experience writing and maintaining PowerShell Scripts.
  • Solid foundational understanding of core Windows Networking Principals.
  • Group Policy Management.
  • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
