We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support in providing technical expertise, strategic advice, and leadership to help optimise asset lifecycles and enhance service delivery.
You will ensure Sydney Water meets Regulatory requirements and ensure the protection of our customers; our employees and the Sydney Water networks and associated infrastructure.

What you will be doing:
- Contribute to the identification, creation and active management improvement of technical specifications, standards and guidelines related to Civil engineering.
- Support senior engineering staff to provide technical and risk management advice for Civil and Pipeline engineering.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate technical management systems.
- Drive innovation, particularly in digital and sustainable infrastructure approaches, where appropriate and consistent with Sydney Water’s corporate strategy.
- Support other engineers to achieve goals by providing guidance and quality assurance and monitoring workflow.
- Provide input to prioritisation of activities for the specialist civil engineering team, and towards daily task allocation
- Contribute and support our engineering standards development, management and continuous improvement to enable effective implementation across the organisation.
About you:
You will have obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil discipline, that is recognised under the Washington Accord or Engineers Australia, with relevant experience in Civil Engineering.
- A driver's license (C class) is required
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in Civil and Pipeline design.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in civil, structural and hydraulic design of utility pipelines
- Knowledge of design and construction practices associated with trenchless technologies
- Ability to think critically, apply a commercial and customer mindset and creatively problem solve
- Ability to build trust, strategically influence and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to manage contracts and audit work
- Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate, and work under pressure – to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders (internal and external).
