Who we are:

Sydney Water is undertaking a 10-year multibillion dollar Infrastructure program to renew, expand & build infrastructure to support a more sustainable, resilient, and efficient water network for Sydney’s growing population. We provide safe drinking, recycled, wastewater, and stormwater services with a focus on reliability, affordability, and environmental sustainability. As a state-owned corporation, we prioritize customers and communities.

About This Role:

As the Lead Scheduler, you will lead the development and maintenance of high‑quality client‑side schedules across a portfolio of projects, giving clear visibility of progress, risk and delivery confidence. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, maintenance and analysis of high‑quality client‑side schedules, ensuring robust logic, baseline integrity and reliable forecasting across complex projects and programs.
  • Manage the end‑to‑end monthly schedule update cycle and contractor interfaces, ensuring timely, validated updates, controlled change incorporation and governance compliance.
  • Provide insightful schedule analysis, including critical path, float, interfaces and milestone variance, delivering early warning of risk and practical recovery options with delivery teams.
  • Lead and coach a team of schedulers, coordinating workload, assuring quality, embedding best‑practice scheduling standards and building capability through hands‑on leadership.
  • Support integrated project controls by applying EVM, change control and data quality discipline, collaborating with cost, risk and commercial teams to enable defensible reporting and decision‑making.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related discipline, supported by a recognised Project Management certification.
  • Strong leadership experience in scheduling, with a proven ability to lead, mentor and uplift scheduler teams while driving consistent standards and high‑quality outputs.
  • Deep expertise in Primavera P6 and industry‑best scheduling principles, with the ability to manage multiple complex schedules and maintain robust governance and controls.
  • Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with confidence presenting insights, risks and recommendations to senior project and program leaders.
  • Advanced analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills, supported by strong Excel capability and a sound understanding of contractual, legislative and governance requirements (Power BI and SAP experience desirable).
