About the Role 

Sydney Water is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Regulatory Advisor to lead research and analysis on regulatory, economic, pricing and competition matters. This is a pivotal role within our team, contributing to Sydney Water’s engagement with regulators, including IPART, and other key stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and present recommendations on strategic projects, particularly those shaping corporate and pricing strategy. 
  • Lead regulatory review workstreams and submissions, championing Sydney Water’s position to stakeholders like IPART. 
  • Collaborate across teams to assess financial and customer impacts of pricing and regulatory decisions. 
  • Provide strategic advice and stakeholder engagement to ensure regulatory processes are implemented effectively and in a timely, compliant manner. 
  • Conduct economic and financial modelling to support regulatory submissions and apply outcomes from regulatory determinations. 
  • Monitor and analyse regulatory trends and reforms across the water industry and broader utilities landscape to inform strategy. 

Skills and Experience 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in senior advisory or policy roles within Government or similar sectors. 
  • Exceptional written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and engage with subject matter experts. 
  • Strong capability in translating complex data and analysis into accessible reports for non-specialist audiences. 
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks and Government policy processes. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and sound data analysis skills.

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of submitting your application to be considered for this role.
