We are looking for a Business Process Lead to drive infrastructure delivery continuous improvement and support capabilities uplift and development by delivering measurable process improvements across Sydney Water by leading strategic initiatives, engaging with teams, uplifting process maturity, and ensuring seamless integration of systems and solutions.

About the role:

We’re looking for a results-driven continuous and business process improvement leader to drive transformation and deliver measurable improvements for the Infrastructure Delivery business. In this hands-on role, you’ll lead in the design, development and improvement of business systems and project management processes, coach teams, support high-impact initiatives, and uplift process maturity by applying innovative methods. You’ll also coordinate and collaborate with relevant SMEs and internal business partners as well as manage external providers, integrating systems and third-party processes, and help prioritise initiatives to achieve meaningful business outcomes.

As business process lead you will:

  • Drive and deliver significant process improvement benefits by leading and supporting high-performing teams, coaching and developing others, and embedding process improvement expertise and best practices.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate business process improvement risks in line with Sydney Water standards, ensuring compliance and effective risk management.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders, navigate complex challenges, and balance strategic vision with attention to detail.
  • Support and contribute to project and leadership team reporting and decision-making, while maintaining confidentiality and supporting a positive, values-driven work environment.
  • Champion safety, wellbeing, and ongoing professional development for yourself and your team during periods of significant change.

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in business, engineering, or a related field (with additional qualifications in portfolio, program, or project management highly desirable), Lean Six Sigma Green/Black/Master Black Belt certification, and advanced proficiency in process improvement toolsets (e.g., Power BI, ARIS, MS Visio and equivalent).
  • Over 10 years’ experience leading delivery continuous and business process improvement or complex capital investment centric transformational projects, with knowledge and expertise in Lean Six Sigma, and project management methodologies such as PMBOK or Prince2.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to mentor teams and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, process design and technical writing skills, with a proven ability to map, reengineer, and optimize complex project and business processes and systems across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated capability to deliver results under pressure, prioritize competing demands, and work collaboratively with Digital and business functions to drive sustainable change.

Important: This is a Business Process Lead role focused on supporting improvements and capabilities uplift in the project, development and delivery of Water infrastructure construction projects. It is not a digital or IT infrastructure position, and applicants with primarily digital/IT backgrounds will only be considered if they have relevant experience in Water infrastructure development and construction.
