St Barbara Limited is an Australian based, ASX listed gold producer and explorer. St Barbara's assets include one of Australia's deepest underground mines at its Leonora Operations in Western Australia and an open pit gold mining operation on Simberi Island in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
St Barbara Limited are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor to join their team within our Health, Safety & Environment Department at Leonora.
Key accountabilities of this role include:
Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards, participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed.
Providing support to the Environmental Superintendent and ensuring the effective operation of the Company’s Health, Safety & Environment Management System across Leonora.
Contributing to the collection, storage and interpretation of reliable environmental data and maintaining a compliance register identifying prescribed statutory accountabilities and the site personnel with those primary accountabilities.
Assisting in providing timely, accurate and relevant environmental management-related services and support to the site managers.
Assisting in respect of the identification of Environmental and Community risks. Carry out workplace environmental compliance inspections and provide coaching and instruction to employees and contractors through the Visual leadership system.
Supporting the Environmental Superintendent to improve understanding of environmental requirements across Leonora Operations, including the Delivery of environmental training and education deliveries at toolbox meetings.
Contributing to the development of action plans and contributing to ensuring that the Health, Safety & Environment Department meets all relevant internal and external compliance obligations.
Ensuring timely, accurate reporting (internal/external) to the Environment Superintendent and other relevant internal and external parties.
Experience and Qualifications
To be successful, you will display behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s values and the ability to work effectively within a team.
A 'C' Class manual driver’s license and the ability to pass a full site medical and police clearance check is mandatory for this role. In addition;
A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or equivalent
Environmental Lead Auditor experience and Cert IV in Workplace Health and Safety is desirable.

This role is offered on a permanent basis on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster FIFO from Perth, DIDO from Kalgoorlie or residentially from Leonora.
