A Day in the Life of Scape's Accountant:

As our Accountant (Development), you’ll be right at the heart of the action, supporting the end-to-end accounting and finance cycle for our development entities to ensure completeness, accuracy and timelines of the Scape general ledger information and reports. You’ll also partner closely with our internal construction, finance, treasury IT and investment teams, as well as external partners when it comes to compliance.

The key focus areas of the role will include (but not limited to):

• Team & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate cross-functionally with development, construction, treasury and investment teams to deliver finance outcomes.
• Financial Close: Deliver accurate and timely month-end and quarter-end reporting, journals, and GL reconciliations.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Help build and manage cash flow forecasts and budgets for new and ongoing developments.
• Project Accounting: Assist with capital expenditure tracking, budget management and fund drawdowns for active projects.
• Consolidation & Reporting: Support preparation of management and statutory reporting across entities and trusts.
• Taxation: Coordinate indirect tax processing and compliance, including liaison with external tax consultants.
• Systems & Processes: Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, processes and internal training.
• Other: Support audit queries, document control, and special finance projects as needed.

What makes you successful?

You’re a technically sharp, commercially curious accountant who thrives in a fast-moving environment. You know how to juggle multiple projects, bring clarity to complexity, and collaborate across departments. You’re confident in your numbers, and even better at explaining what they mean.

Here’s what you’ll bring:

• CA/CPA qualified or working towards it
• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally from a Big 4 or Mid-Tier background, or within a corporate environment focused on property development or asset management
• Foundational knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, corporate reporting, and tax principles (preferably in the property or asset management sectors)
• Confident with balance sheet, P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
• Excel wizardry, and ideally some ERP/BI tool know-how (NetSuite, Power BI, Tableau etc.)
• Great communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
