Senior Metallurgist / Processing Plant Systems Specialist

Mipac is seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist to join our rapidly growing process control optimisation and consulting team based in Brisbane. You will take advantage of our unique remote optimisation and deployment approach that enables greater site-life harmony whilst still allowing you to get your hands dirty from time-to-time. You will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team of Control System Engineers and Data Scientists to configure and deploy fit-for-purpose control and metallurgical optimisation strategies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers as a client advocate to understand their operational problems and opportunities
  • Identify and deliver holistic solutions from the Mipac internal and external (partner) portfolios to address client problems
  • Collaborate with Control System Engineers and Data Scientists to design, specify, deploy and sustain advanced process control solutions
  • Manage client engagements from start to finish including proposal development, project management, budget and schedule tracking
  • Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting and technical support for process control systems
  • Remain at the forefront of process control technology and innovation
  • Optimise and maintain Mipac’s remote optimisation portal for client knowledge capture and value tracking

 

About you

  • Degree qualified in Metallurgy, Chemical or Process Engineering with exposure to Process Control (post-graduate study highly regarded)
  • 7+ years’ operational experience delivering or supporting process control technology in a metallurgical environment (concentrator experience is a must, complimentary pyro and/or hydro experience highly regarded)
  • International and consulting experience across multiple operations, commodities and flowsheets highly regarded
  • Understand and balance the competing priorities and business drivers that exist across the operational value chain
  • Experience designing robust process control strategies
  • Solid understanding of process dynamics, mathematics, simulation and technical computing
  • Superb analytical and troubleshooting skills and methodical approaches to solving complex problems
  • Excellent communication skills and client-facing rapport
