About the Role ...
The Maintenance Officer is a valued team member who reports to the Manager on daily basis and ensures all maintenance for the residential aged care home is conducted in a timely manner. This includes building maintenance, grounds and outside areas and where needed arranging contractors for trade services.
The Maintenance Officer is required to follow the Managers directions and work as a team player.
About you ...
You are a highly organised energetic, fit and able to perform the inherent tasks including lifting and pushing equipment, standing on ladders and other physical tasks.
As a self-motivated individual - someone who can manage their time, be flexible with their workloads and take pride in your work. Exhibiting an excellent interpersonal communication skills and like working in an aged care environment.
Collaborating through teamwork with colleagues, with empathy and compassion will find success.
Responsibilities:
- Preventative, unplanned and corrective maintenance duties across multiple sites
- Equipment and plant monitoring
- Grounds and garden maintenance
- Steam cleaning of carpets and chairs
- Maintenance of schedules/registers and documentation for accreditation
- Report any defects or improvements/replacements in buildings, equipment and grounds
- Supervision of external contractors and suppliers regarding repairs and maintenance
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated experience in building, equipment and gardening maintenance
- Experience in Aged Care highly regarded
- Proven painting experience
- Experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated high level of communication skills
- Self-starter and excellent time management skills
- Flexibility and ability to work in a team environment
- Certificate in test and tagging highly desired
- OH&S knowledge and Computer skills
- Understanding of Hygiene and Safety practices in aged care
- Current police check
- A current Driver's license
Desirable Experience and Qualifications:
- A current trade qualification/certificate
- An understanding of the Aged Care Standards, accreditation, continuous improvement and ACFI requirements
- Current police check Required
- Working Rights Required
- Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Highly desirable
