Lycopodium Minerals Namibia is seeking a highly experienced Earthworks Supervisor with a strong EPCM project background in SMP (Structural, Mechanical, and Piping) construction across mineral processing plants. to join our dynamic, growing team. Reporting to the Construction Manager the Earthworks Supervisor will be responsible for providing Earthworks Supervisor services to the project, as part of the construction team. The Earthworks Supervisor shall provide sound technical advice in the resolutions of problems associated with constructability or design issues.
This is a key leadership role for someone with a proven record managing complex site-based projects.
The tasks you'll perform
- Supervise the construction of bulk earthworks, terraces, haul roads, platforms, stormwater systems, and TSFs.
- Oversee road construction including subgrades, stabilization, base layers, asphalt, chip-and-spray, and concrete pavements.
- Coordinate quarry operations, blasting schedules, and haul road maintenance to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Inspect and sign off earthworks, drainage, and concrete structures to meet QCP, ITP, and OHSA standards.
- Plan and allocate daily tasks to crews and subcontractors, ensuring work is completed to spec and on time.
- Monitor plant and machinery usage, ensuring proper maintenance, calibration, and safe operation.
- Conduct regular HSE inspections, toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with excavation and open-hole procedures.
- Prepare and maintain site reports, daily diaries, and progress updates for management and client representatives.
- Provide technical guidance on design drawings, variations, and extra works, liaising with engineers and stakeholders.
Qualification and Experience:
- N3 Engineering Studies (Industrial Organisation & Planning, Mathematics, Supervision in Industry).
- 15+ years of experience supervising bulk earthworks, roads, TSFs, drainage, and mining infrastructure projects.
- Proven leadership in site supervision, subcontractor management, and client interface across Africa.
- Training and certification in HIRA, Accident Investigation, Legal Liability, and Safety Supervision (including deep excavations).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply design drawings and technical specifications.
- Solid background in planning, scheduling, and executing earthworks projects in mining and civil environments.
- Knowledge of QA/QC standards, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills with proven ability to direct multi-disciplinary teams.
- Skilled in problem-solving, decision-making, and adapting to changing project requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to build positive working relationships across diverse teams.
