Electrical Design Engineer

The tasks you'll perform

• Perform detailed electrical engineering designs, power system calculations, and configuration of electrical equipment and systems. 
• Ensure all electrical designs meet project specifications, industry codes, statutory requirements, and quality standards. 
• Collaborate with design and drafting teams to develop electrical drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, single‑line diagrams, and equipment layouts. 
• Coordinate technical interfaces with other engineering disciplines to ensure full integration and alignment across all project systems. 
• Prepare comprehensive electrical engineering documentation such as scopes of work, bills of materials, equipment specifications, and technical datasheets. 
• Develop and compile technical tender packages and provide electrical engineering input for the procurement of electrical equipment, switchgear, motors, etc. 
• Review vendor documentation and distribute relevant information for interface checks and design integration. 
• Knowledge of SANS and international design codes and standards 

The expertise you'll bring

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent from a reputable institution.
• 3+ years' postgraduate experience in a similar position. 
• Registration as an ECSA Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist is advantageous. 
• South African Citizen of Permanent Resident
• Cape Town based
• Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
• Display the core values and ethos of the business.
• Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables
• Demonstrated ability to achieve consistently high standards within both budgetary and schedule constraints.
