Lycopodium is currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Contracts Engineer to join our Perth based team.

Reporting to the Principal Contracts Engineer, this role will be responsible for administering and maintaining the contracts and consultancy service agreements for your allocated project.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Primary responsibility for the provision of contract letting, evaluation of contractor’s claims, contract administration and contract closeout services for the Project. 
  • Ensure the projects established and agreed contract terms and conditions are adhered to for site works and in the event the site contract team is creating a new contract, ensuring the most appropriate terms and conditions are used that suit the specific scope of work.
  •  Take the lead role in resolution of claims, pending matters or disputes with contractors to ensure timely and effective closure of all contracts.
  • Ensure there is compliance with the project contracting and contract management plans, schedules, budgets and ensure that project and contract deliverables are achieved within the nominated timeframes and are to a consistently high standard.
  • Attending Contractor progress meetings.
  • Conducting detailed commercial evaluations of Contractor’s claims, and analysis ensuring the findings are summarised or presented in formats used by Lycopodium that are clear and understandable for their intended audience.

The expertise you'll bring

  • Undergraduate qualification in engineering, commerce or related area.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in administrating and maintaining contracts at post-award stage, with experience in earthworks, concrete and other civil works, SMP and E&I.
  • Demonstrate a superior understanding and awareness of contract management, standard and model terms and conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision with a consistently high degree of accuracy and producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Effective communication with colleagues, subordinates, clients and contractors to meet targets.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing, mentoring and leading teams.
  • Ability to achieve consistently high standards within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Capacity to evaluate work practices, implement systems and suggest alternatives and refinements where necessary.
  • Previous experience in contractor claims assessments including extension of time claims.
  • A focus on creating, fostering and managing people relationships for diverse, high-performance teams.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders and work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple locations.
