Lycopodium Minerals Namibia is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced HSE Advisor to join our dynamic, project team. Reporting to the Project HSE Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and improving HSE systems on the project. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders, the Project HSE Team promotes a strong safety culture and ensures consistent application of HSE standards and procedures.
The tasks you'll perform
- Participate in the planning, development and implementation of HSE related plans, process, and procedures, as required, to enable the efficient management of the Project and ensure HSE targets and reporting are met.
- Provide specialist advice across all project disciplines, including assessing and identifying risks to ensure activities prioritise safety, environment, community and industrial relations.
- Proactively manage risks and governance by developing and implementing appropriate risk analysis and compliance frameworks aimed at best practices.
- Conduct HSE research to ensure the Company remains compliant and advise on any regulatory and legislative changes to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Advise the relevant Manager immediately of any safety or environmental, community or industrial relations incidents as per approved Company policy and procedures.
- Provide input for the compilation and submission of the project progress report monthly.
- Regularly communicate with the HSE Manager and provide weekly reports, updates and feedback with regard to the HSE matters.
- Communicate immediately (or as described in the applicable project plan) with the HSE Manager on matters that might affect the project goals.
- Identify and recommend the HSE resources required for the Project and appropriately allocate existing resources.
- Register and file all relevant documentation in accordance with Company approved procedures.
- Encourage and build a positive workplace culture and team environment.
- Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives within the construction team, which support the business’ continuous improvement.
The expertise you'll bring
- Certifications related to Health, Safety, and Environmental Management (required).
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (highly recommended).
- At least 5 years’ proven experience in various aspects of HSE Management in mineral processing and related industries.
- Namibian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Strong background and training in HSE systems and management.
- Strong background in site construction with a broad multi-disciplinary base in mineral processing plant / infrastructure construction.
- Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables, within budget and schedule constraints.
- Demonstrate an ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues across all business units.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients and colleagues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
