Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Senior Procurement Officer to join our project team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. 

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Procurement Officer, this role will be responsible for the purchasing, expediting, transport logistics, freight schedules, maintenance of procedures and information reporting for your allocated project.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies.
  • Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating contracts.
  • Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
  • Reviewing, comparing, analyzing, and approving products and services to be purchased
  • Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers
  • Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports.
  • Drafting and issuing ITTs, RFQs, and POs, ensuring alignment with project specifications, schedules, and procurement policies, while coordinating with internal teams to ensure all necessary information is included.
  • Evaluating supplier proposals, identifies departures, prepares reports, and ensures alignment with specifications and timelines.
  • Communicating with suppliers to clarify queries and ensure awareness of tender timelines and deliverables.
  • Preparing recommendation reports for Approval and executes PO Contracts.

The expertise you'll bring

  • Min 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience in all aspects of Procurement.
  • Familiar with Mining Local Content Regulations
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Display the core values and ethos of the business.
