Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Process Engineering team in Melbourne.
Reporting to the Manager of Design the Lead Mechanical Engineer will
The tasks you'll perform
- Conduct timely reviews and provide direction of Project mechanical drawings to achieve full compliance with design intent.
- Perform and review engineering designs, including calculations and design development.
- Liaise with and provide professional direction to drafting team in the preparation of drawing deliverables.
- Develop technical documentation including scopes of work and specifications using relevant industry standards and guidelines.
- Produce and assist with the delivery of accurate engineering lists including but not limited to: equipment, lubrication, spares, valves, pipe line and special items.
- Evaluate tenders and provide technical recommendations for the purchase of mechanical equipment from vendors where necessary.
- Lead the development of Mechanical Engineering estimates for proposals through to expression of interests.
- Maintain an understanding of the latest developments to Industry and Project specific codes, standards and related engineering matters.
- Contribute to engineers-in-training professional development by providing consistent mentoring and identify avenues of development.
The expertise you'll bring
- Experience in process and industrial projects, with a strong foundation in the design and review of mechanical systems including pressure vessels, tanks, pumps, piping networks and related equipment.
- University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.
- 10+ years post-graduate experience working within the industrial processes industry or on similar capital projects.
- High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of mechanical process optimisation.
- Proficient understanding of business acumen with the ability to adapt to different business environments.
- The successful candidate must hold current registration on the National Engineering Register (NER) and be a Registered Professional Engineer in Victoria (RPEV) with appropriate Victorian BLA registration.
