Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Engineering team in Perth. 

Reporting to the General Manager Engineering the Principal Mechanical Engineer will:

  • Conduct timely reviews of Project mechanical drawings to achieve full compliance with design intent. 
  • Approve, guide and review engineering designs, including calculations & design development. 
  • Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes. 
  • Identify scope variations and prepare relevant documentation accordingly. 
  • Liaise with and provide professional support to drafting team in the preparation of drawing deliverables. 
  • Develop technical documentation including scopes of work and specifications using relevant industry standards and guidelines. 
  • Approve and assist with the delivery of accurate material take-offs as and when required. 
  • Evaluate and approve tenders, provide technical recommendations for the purchase of mechanical equipment from vendors where necessary. 
  • Inter-discipline co-ordination of technical aspects of the design. 
  • Approve and assist with the delivery of engineering documentation in relation to scope, quantities, cost and schedule. 
  • Contribute to engineers-in-training professional development mentoring and identify avenues of development. 

The expertise you'll bring

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or the equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Mineral Processing ideally in an EPCM environment
  • Mechanical/Piping design experience in mineral processing plants
  • Experience in gold, base metals and iron ore is advantageous
  • Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including Clients, vendors and co-workers
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge across a broad range of disciplines
  • Proven time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
