Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead Designer - Piping to join our growing Drafting and Design team in San Isidro, Lima, Peru.
The Lead Designer – Piping is responsible for leading and coordinating the piping design discipline for mineral processing plant projects. The role ensures piping layouts, models, and drawings are developed in accordance with project specifications, client requirements, applicable standards, and company procedures. The Lead Designer supervises piping designers, coordinates with engineering disciplines, and ensures high-quality deliverables within schedule and budget.
The tasks you'll perform
- Lead the piping design discipline within assigned projects.
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Structural, and Electrical disciplines to integrate piping systems.
- Develop and review piping layouts including slurry pipelines, reagent distribution systems, process water systems, compressed air systems, and utilities.
- Supervise Senior Piping Designers and Piping Designers assigned to the project.
- Participate in 3D model reviews (30%, 60%, and 90%) and ensure clash detection and resolution.
- Review vendor equipment drawings and integrate vendor models into the plant layout.
- Ensure piping deliverables meet project schedules and allocated budgets.
- Maintain compliance with company CAD standards and international piping design standards.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to piping design personnel.
- Report discipline progress and potential risks to project management.
The expertise you'll bring·
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering Design Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
- +15 years experience in piping design for mineral processing or heavy industrial plants.
- Proven experience leading piping design teams in EPCM projects.
- Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenPlant, or equivalent plant design software.
- Strong understanding of piping design standards and plant layout integration.
